Polecenie: "Critically evaluate the claim that technology will replace teachers within a generation." (200–250 words)

The claim that technology will replace teachers within a generation conflates two distinct propositions: that technology can perform some functions currently performed by teachers, and that it can perform all of them. The first is almost certainly true; the second is considerably more doubtful.

Adaptive learning platforms, AI tutors and personalised learning algorithms are already demonstrating an ability to deliver content more efficiently and more responsively than any single teacher can manage in a class of thirty. Notwithstanding this, the functions of teaching that technology cannot replicate are not peripheral but central. Teaching is not merely the transmission of information: it involves the modelling of intellectual engagement, the management of group dynamics, the development of social and emotional capacities, and the kind of mentoring relationship that shapes how students understand themselves as learners.

Be that as it may, the realistic scenario is not replacement but transformation. It is widely believed that AI tools will take over routine instructional tasks, freeing teachers to focus on the irreplaceable relational and developmental functions. What this requires is not fewer teachers but differently skilled ones — and significant investment in teacher training and professional development.

On balance, the claim is overstated. Technology will transform teaching; it will not replace the teacher.

Jak zbudować esej o AI i nauczycielach

1

Claim

AI will replace teachers

2

Distinction

replace SOME tasks ≠ replace the teacher

3

Evidence

adaptive learning • AI tutors • personalised platforms

4

Limit

mentoring • social/emotional development • group dynamics

5

Conclusion

transformation • NOT replacement

Pamiętaj: Sednem jest ROZRÓŻNIENIE: technologia przejmuje część zadań, ale nie zastępuje nauczyciela. Zakończenie ma stanowisko (transform, not replace), nie „good and bad".

✍️ Writing frame (critical evaluation):

  • The claim conflates two distinct ideas…
  • It is true that technology can…
  • Notwithstanding this, teaching also involves…
  • On balance, the stronger argument is that…

📊 B2+ safe vs C1 model: B2+ (bezpieczne): Technology can help teachers, but it cannot replace them, because teaching is more than giving information. C1 (model wyżej): rozróżnia some tasks ≠ all tasks, używa conflate / relational functions, kończy transform, not replace. Model = upgrade, nie minimum.

📖 Glossary: conflate = łączyć/mylić dwie ODRĘBNE rzeczy jako jedną (to conflate X with Y). NIE to samo co confuse (mylić się). propositions = twierdzenia.

📝 Exam tip: Critically evaluate wymaga STANOWISKA — co przeważa i dlaczego. Pilnuj limitu 200–250 słów. „Technology is both good and bad" to NIE stanowisko.
