Basic integrals

∫xn dx=xn+1n+1+C, ∫1x dx=ln⁡∣x∣+C\int x^n\,dx=\tfrac{x^{n+1}}{n+1}+C,\ \int\tfrac1x\,dx=\ln|x|+C

Result unit: — (funkcja + C)

What it describes

Basic formulas for indefinite integrals (CC — the constant of integration).

Symbols

xx
variable
nn
exponent
CC
constant of integration

Where it comes from

Integration is the inverse of differentiation — you add 1 to the exponent and divide. Always include the constant of integration CC (the derivative of a constant is 0).

When to use it

Computing indefinite integrals, areas, and antiderivatives.

Example

Compute ∫x2 dx\int x^2\,dx.
Substitutionn=2n=2.
Resultx33+C\dfrac{x^3}{3}+C.
